Bio Summary -- Dr. John H. White, TechWrite President
Dr.
White has worked in the education, grant writing, training, and technical
writing fields. During his career, John has provided services to clients and
employers at almost every level of the education and training sectors:
elementary school, middle school, high school, vocational school, adult
education, technical college, community college, university, and training
for business and industry levels. A sampling of related positions held by
John include
vice president for institutional research and legal affairs
at a university, dean of instruction and interim
president at a technical college, director of business and industry training
programs for two colleges, director of professional development for an
international engineering society, and vice president of a technical writing
company serving the nuclear power industry.
John has over 40 years’ experience working in
senior and executive roles for universities, colleges, and private
companies, providing expert leadership across institutional research,
distance education, legal affairs, enrollment/recruitment, marketing,
student services, and program development.
During his years in the field, John has provided
services to some of the leading companies and organizations in the United
States. A sampling of these corporations and organizations include Louisiana
Power and Light (LP&L), NASA Kennedy Space Center, Lumpkin & Associates, Elevator World, Teledyne Brown Engineering,
Westinghouse, Troy University, U.S. Navy, American Society of Mechanical
Engineers (ASME), Durr Drug Company, Georgia Pacific Corporation, James
River Corporation, Japanese Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME), Alabama
River Companies, Scott Paper Company, Monsanto, AT&T Alliance, and the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers.
John served as the training and education consultant for a project with
Elevator World
that included working with subject-matter experts (SME) in developing close
to 25 training manuals for two national certification programs: (1)
Certified Elevator Technician (CET™) Program, and (2) Certified
Accessibility and Private Residence Lift Technician(CAT™) Program.
Additionally, John was under a TechWrite contract with
a private, nonprofit university and served as the Vice President of
Institutional Research and Legal Affairs for 13 years. During this
assignment, John was instrumental in managing major accreditation efforts to
meet stringent higher education requirements, as well as several initiatives
to gain approval for new Ph.D. and bachelor degree programs.
John has authored three books that include:

John's earned degrees include a doctor of education and
a master of education, both from Columbia University, a master of arts from
the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a bachelor of arts from Alma
College, and an associate of arts from Macomb County Community College. John
also attended the University of Hawaii, Leeward Community College (Pearl
City, Hawaii), and Central Michigan University.
Finally, John served in the U.S. Navy as a Second-Class Electrician’s Mate Petty Officer and served aboard the USS Reeves DLG-24 with a six-month tour in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and received an Honorable Discharge.
